The 2008 Ornament depicts
the west entrance sign and fountain with the "old
water tank" in the background. The "old water tank"
was
erected in the late 1950's and seved the town for
approximately
50 years. It was decommissioned and dismantled in 2008.

The
2007 Ornament honors the 50th anniversary of the Turbeville
Rural Fire
Department. In 1957, Dee & Loren Wingard traveled to
Battle
Creek, Michigan to pick up the new 1957 Ford Fire Truck.

The 2006 Ornament honors the 50th anniversary of the
historical
landmark - The Chat-n-Chew. Founded and built by Hassie
Gibbons
it has been an anchor business in town and is world renown.
The
Chat-n-Chew has had owners: Hassie & Dalma Gibbons,
Glellan
Atkinson, Furman & Carolyn Walker, Larry & Leslie
Gibbons, and
Jeffrey Osborne. The Chat-N-Chew is famous for more than its
fried chicken and hometown fellowship. It was mentioned in a
novel by Dorothy Benton Franks and Coastal Carolina College
(later University) was organized and founded in the Chat-N-Chew.

The 2005 Ornament commemorated public education in our community by
remembering the old Turbeville School building (later known as the East
Clarendon Middle School). This historic building was the
center
of community life for many years as it's auditorium served for public
meetings, plling places and the home to the Turbeville Southern
Methodist Church, in it's infant years. The building held the
"cannery" where local farmers would bring their produce for canning.

The 2004 Ornament commemorates the construction of the Welcome sign and
Fountain. This is the west entrance to town.
